About William Arthur, Inc.

In 1949, Philip and Rita Renning, accomplished artists in fine printing and type design, founded Ten Bamboo Studio, now known as William Arthur.  The company was named after The Ten Bamboo Studio Manual of Calligraphy and Painting, a 17th century album of woodcuts that still serves as a style manual for Chinese wood block printing techniques.  Mr. Bill De Jonge acquired the company in 1984 and changed the company name to William Arthur, his first and middle name.

In 1987, William Arthur was moved from Wellesley, Massachusetts to West Kennebunk, Maine, where its stationery products are designed, manufactured, inspected and printed today.  William Arthur became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Inc., in 1997 and employs over 350 designers and skilled craftsmen.  All functions from creative design to production and distribution are performed at the William Arthur facility.

William Arthur provides a wide variety of personalized and boxed stationery products for all occasions - invitations, wedding, baby, social stationery, holiday, moving and sympathy - that are sold to customers direct online and through 1,700 carefully selected dealers worldwide.  In addition, William Arthur provides all types of printing options: thermography, engraving, embossing, letterpress and flat printing.
